Library Hours

Olson Library’s space is closed to the public until further notice.

Even though our space is closed, our staff is here to help you Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Contact us if you have any questions.

Library Materials

Returning Items

  • All items have had due dates extended to May 5, 2020. There will be no overdue fines assessed at this time.
  • If you choose to return an item, visit the NMU Police Department, located in the Services Building on Sugarloaf Avenue, between Wright and Hawley Streets (See Campus Map). They are open 24 hours.
  • If you will not be returning by May 5, please contact us via email,



Printing Services has made an all-in-one printer/scanner/photocopier available in room #132 of the Services Building on Sugarloaf Avenue, between Wright and Hawley Streets (See Campus Map).  Students will have access Monday-Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  There is no charge to print but users will need to print from a flash drive. The printer can print either black & white or color copies and has the following paper sizes: 11 x 17,  8.5 x 14 and 8.5 x 11.


Resource Sharing

MeLCat requesting has been turned off until further notice.

Interlibrary Loan services are partially available. Electronic material may be requested and delivered via email. Physical material requests may not be requested at this time. 


Digital Media Tutoring Center and Virtual Reality

The Digital Media Tutoring Center is closed until further notice.
Virtual Reality is unavailable until further notice.



All public events in Lydia M. Olson Library have been postponed or canceled through May 2.


Central Upper Peninsula & NMU Archives

The Archives physical space is closed to the public, but some services are available virtually. The public may still submit reference queries via email ( or phone 906-227-1225.
