The Diversity Common Reader Program (DCRP) is a semester-long initiative focused on embracing diversity by exposing a new cultural or ethnic idea at a campus-wide level. At the beginning of the semester The Diversity Common Reader Committee selects a book that advances diversity. The selected book is made available, free of charge, to all interested NMU students and faculty discussion leaders. The committee invites the campus community to participate in discussions with the author or other notable speakers visiting campus. In addition, the committee invites the community to participate in writing and art contests reflecting the reading. Books are available at the Multicultural Education and Resource Center. For information on the Common Reader Book Launch, contact DCRP committee chair Heather Pickett at firstname.lastname@example.org or the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (email@example.com, 906-227-2000).
