Start with national professional organizations
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association
...then use a specialized search engine which finds only credible authoritative web sites (new link as of 9/3/20):
Medical professionals, patients, & consumers use this search engine to find HONcode-certified web pages (excludes government sites) NOTE: this search engine will be discontinued on Dec. 15, 2022)
Finally, consider these other health-related highly-authoritative web sites:
Cleveland Clinic (authoritative web site)
Mayo Clinic (authoritative web site)
CDC (authoritative web site)
WHO (authoritative web site)
See Library's APA guide for an example of how to format reference entry for web pages authored by
Mayo Clinic Staff, CDC, and other organizations as authors.
Do not forget that the ASHA website includes journal articles. When referencing this type of material, do not use web page example, but instead use the APA style format for journal articles.
Recommendation: When using more than one aspect of a topic (e.g., Introduction, Causes, etc.), click on the "Print This Entire Topic" button on right, and reference that page, and use the year which appears on the bottom of original page.
