SciFinder-n is a new platform of SciFinder which provides more content than any SciFinder® product, including easy access to full-text, indexed patents, and millions of step-by-step syntheses indexed specifically by CAS.

You can access SciFinder-n with your current SciFinder credentials. The two versions of SciFinder will be coexisting for a while. If you have never registered before, register for an account with SciFinder, then you can access the new platform of SciFinder-n. This needs to be done on-campus and using your NMU email address.

Google Scholar - "Invalid Domain for Site Key" ErrorGoogle reCaptcha Error

In an effort to optimize user experience during peak activity, Google Scholar may prompt Northern Michigan University patrons to complete a reCAPTCHA widget to verify their non-robot status. Unfortunately, a security glitch in Google's widget may result in an "Invalid domain for site key" error for patrons accessing the Library's off-campus proxy server.

Workaround:

If you possess a Google Account, you can integrate it with the Library using the following steps:

  1. Visit the un-proxied version of Google Scholar at https://scholar.google.com.
  2. Click the "Sign In" button and log in with your NMU account (xxxx@nmu.edu).
  3. From the menu icon (three bars at the top left), select "Settings," then choose "Library Links."
  4. In the Library Links section of the Settings menu, confirm that "Northern Michigan University - Get it@NMU," is selected.
  5. If it is not already selected, search for Northern Michigan University in the search bar. Then, select the checkbox next to "Northern Michigan University - Get it@NMU," click the "Save" button in the lower right.

Once saved, you can return to the Google Scholar homepage. You should now be able to explore Google Scholar without utilizing NMU's off-campus proxy, while still having access to the "Get it@NMU" links directing you to our full-text databases.

If the provided workaround does not resolve your Google Scholar access issues, we recommend patience, as Google typically resets the faulty reCAPTCHA requirement after approximately 24 hours.

The ACS Web Edition provides patrons with unrestricted access to the entire portfolio of current ACS journals and, new in 2017, Chemical & Engineering News, including more than 60 peer-reviewed publications of the American Chemical Society.

NIST Chemistry WebBook
Provides users with easy access to chemical and physical property data for chemical species through the internet. The data provided in the site are from collections maintained by the NIST Standard Reference Data Program and outside contributors. Data in the WebBook system are organized by chemical species. The WebBook system allows users to search for chemical species by various means. Once the desired species has been identified, the system will display data for the species.

Freely available NIST scientific and technical data over a broad range of substances and properties from many different scientific disciplines.

NIST Physical Reference Data
Includes physical constants, atomic and molecular data, nuclear physics, condensed matter, and more.

Organic Syntheses
Provides detailed, reliable, and carefully checked procedures for the synthesis of organic compounds. Some procedures describe practical methods for the preparation of specific compounds of interest, while other procedures illustrate important synthetic methods with general utility. Each procedure is written in considerably more detail as compared to typical experimental procedures in other journals, and each reaction with its characterization data has been repeated several times and carefully "checked" for reproducibility in the laboratory of a member of the Board of Editors.

Spectral Database for Organic Compounds, SDBS
Integrated spectral database system for organic compounds, which includes 6 different types of spectra under a directory of the compounds: electron impact Mass spectrum (EI-MS), Fourier transform infrared spectrum (FT-IR), 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrum, 13C NMR spectrum, laser Raman spectrum, and electron spin resonance (ESR) spectrum. 

DrugBank
A unique bioinformatics and cheminformatics resource that combines detailed drug data with comprehensive drug target information. The latest release (version 5.1.3, released 2019-04-02) contains 13,336 drug entries including 2,593 approved small molecule drugs, 1,288 approved biotech (protein/peptide) drugs, 130 nutraceuticals, and over 6,304 experimental drugs.
