Latinx Student Union Book Recommendations

The library invited NMU's Latinx Student Union to select new material for our collection.

Latinx Student Union Book Recommendations

We created a display in collaboration with NMU's Latinx Student Union. Our library asked their organization to select new titles that they would like to see added to our collection at the library, and they chose some great materials.

Some of the titles they chose were, Los Niños Perdidos Un Ensayo en Cuarenta Preguntas by Valeria Luiselli, I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by Erika Sanchez, Esperanza Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan, Across the Bay by Carlos Aponte, and more.

Latinx Student Union member Diana Antonio describes Los Niños Perdidos as, "After reading this in class I became more interested in the different policies that are involved in the process of seeking asylum in the United States. Especially, in our past and frankly current stereotypes and perspectives on immigration and what is going on in our borders. While reading this book I could not help but wonder what someone could learn from an amazing piece of work."
