Women for Women. Book Recommendations.

In collaboration with NMU's Women for Women student organization, the Lydia M. Olson library has established a display that highlights the significance of women's rights, civil rights, and female empowerment. This display contains a physical collection of book recommendations from the Women for Women organization. A virtual format of the display includes a personal interview with co-presidents, Hannah Mahn and Jenna Chappell.

A few of the new titles in this collection are listed as following: Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid; The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath; Our Bodies, Ourselves by the Boston Women's Health Collective; Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult; Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Women for Women co-president, Jenna Chappell defines these book recommendations off of a surge in narrative fiction and non-fiction novels that deal with the intersectional values of the Women for Women organization. When asked about the basis for these goals, Hannah Mahn offered that, "Even though our name says 'Women for Women' we are open to all people of all genders, and we are very much aware of the different identities and where they intersect to create networks of privilege."
