The Library & Instructional Support division at NMU is currently hiring for a Collections Management Assistant.
Ideal candidates hold a bachelor's degree in History, Anthropology, or related disciplines and an advanced degree or graduate certification in a relevant field. Supervisory experience and/or customer service experience is strongly preferred. Additional experience performing historical research for contextual information within museum, archives, or library areas are also desirable qualifications. Candidates will also posses an awareness of the issues and methods involved in handling fragile, often rare, artifacts or print materials.
Duties of this position will include but not be limited to: assisting the archivist of the Central Upper Peninsula and NMU Archives and the director of the Beaumier Heritage Center with the processing of historical manuscript and artifact collections; maintaining the integrity of the Archives/Beaumier physical holdings through collection database maintenance activities; providing patron assistance; hiring, training and supervising student assistants and assist other staff.
