Course offerings for Fall 2023 : AIS 101 & AIS 295

AIS 101: Introduction to Information Resources (1 credit)

During this 7-week online class, students will learn how to use resources such as the library catalog, databases, online sources, government documents and journals. AIS 101 will provide an ease in creating a bibliography. Recommended for freshmen and sophomores.

 

AIS 295: Citizenship, Activism and Power (3 credits)

New Open Access on Student Activism

This collection highlights many significant moments of student protests throughout American history. It's goal of the Reveal Digital’s Student Activism Collection is "to provide access to unique, yet essential, primary sources documenting the deep and broad history of student organizing in the United States. "

Holiday Break Hours

The Lydia M. Olson Library wishes everyone the happiest of holidays! During winter break, the library will be open from 8:00AM-5:00PM on weekdays and closed on the weekends. 

Our holiday hours are listed below: 

December 17th-18th: CLOSED
December 19th-22nd: 8:00AM—5:00PM
December 23rd-January 2nd: CLOSED
January 3rd-4th: 8:00AM—5:00PM
January 7th-8th: CLOSED
January 9th-13th: 8:00AM—5:00PM
January 14th-15th: CLOSED
January 16th: 8:00AM—5:00PM
January 17th: RESUME TO NORMAL LIBRARY HOURS

Finals Week Hours at the Lydia M. Olson Library

The Lydia M. Olson Library will be open for extended hours in preparation for finals week. The hours are as follows:

Friday, December 9th: 7:30AM-3:00AM
Saturday, December 10th: 9:00AM-3:00AM
Sunday, December 11th: 9:00AM-3:00AM
Monday, December 12th: 7:30AM-3:00AM
Tuesday, December 13th: 7:30AM-3:00AM

After these dates, the library will return to regular operating hours for the remainder of the semester. To view the library hours, please visit our website.

Diversity Common Reader Available at the Library

The Diversity Common Reader Program (DCRP) is delighted to announce that free copies of this year's book selection, Being Seen: One Deafblind Woman's Fight to End Ableism, by Elsa Sjunneson are available at the Lydia M. Olson Library.

Physical, audio, and ebook editions of Being Seen are also available, and if you are thinking of using Being Seen—or an excerpt—in one of your classes, please check out the book!

"Swastika Nation"—Bernstein Book Talk YouTube Video

Visit the Lydia M. Olson Library YouTube channel to view a new video upload the book talk held by writer, teacher and speaker, Arnie Bernstein. 

As part of the Americans and the Holocaust exhibition, Arnie Bernstein offered a virtual discussion his novel, "Swastika Nation: Fritz Kuhn and the Rise and Fall of The German-American Bund". This discussion highlighted many of the main concepts of Bernstein's novel, as well as how these historical trends are being represented in current society.
