The Lydia M. Olson Library is seeking a creative and dependable student assistant to support our web presence, visual media, and social media channels. This position offers flexible scheduling around your classes and paid hands-on experience building portfolio pieces.

Work Breakdown

  • 75% Web & Digital Media: Design clear web layouts/mockups (Figma), photograph library events, create promotional graphics, and edit short instructional videos.
  • 25% Library Communications: Write web announcements and create engaging content for library social media channels.
  • Skills You'll Build: Practical training in web accessibility standards (alt-text, closed captioning), content management systems, and professional design tools.

Qualifications

  • Eligible for NMU student employment.
  • Interest in graphic design, web design, photography, video editing, or social media.
  • Basic computer skills and a willingness to learn new software.
  • Note: You do not need to be proficient in every software tool to apply—a willingness to learn is what matters most. Coursework or prior experience in design/communications is a plus, but not required.
