Liaison Librarians for Faculty

Liaison Librarians collaborate with faculty and academic staff to support research, teaching, and curricular development. Each liaison serves as the subject specialist for designated departments and offers domain-specific expertise. Faculty are encouraged to consult their liaison for support in the following areas:

  • Discuss research priorities and instructional needs to identify appropriate library resources and services.
  • Receive support throughout the research lifecycle, including literature reviews, data management planning, and publication strategy.
  • Schedule individual or group consultations for advanced research assistance—available to faculty and students.
  • Request tailored instruction sessions to develop students’ research competencies and information literacy.
  • Collaborate to integrate information literacy objectives into course curricula and assignments.
  • Develop customized research guides, tutorials, and instructional tools aligned with disciplinary standards.
  • Recommend acquisitions that strengthen the library collection in support of teaching and research.
  • Explore author rights and opportunities for open access publishing.
  • Deposit eligible scholarly work into NMU Commons, the university’s institutional repository, in accordance with copyright.
  • Collaborate on other forms of scholarly and pedagogical engagement.
