Job Overview
As a Library Public Services Student Assistant, you’ll be the first point of contact for students, faculty, and community members, assisting them with basic informational and library-related questions. You’ll handle user interactions in person, over the phone, and via chat software, guiding patrons through both electronic and print resources. Responsibilities include performing basic circulation tasks, assisting with library technology (printers, scanners, copiers, laminator, fax machine, CatCa$h machine, etc.). Other duties include maintaining the library collections, conducting tours, and assisting with user experience activities like surveys and focus groups.
Student assistants are also responsible for ensuring the security and care of library materials, shelving resources accurately, and supporting opening and closing procedures. Hours are flexible, but a minimum of six hours per week is required during the fall and winter semesters. We are currently looking for applicants who can work opening or closing shifts, and weekends.
