Unique Collections

Archives

The Central Upper Peninsula and Northern Michigan University Archives houses the historical records of Northern Michigan University and materials documenting the history of the central Upper Peninsula of Michigan, including Alger, Delta, Dickinson, Marquette, Menominee, and Schoolcraft counties.

Government Information

Serving the 1st Congressional District, Northern Michigan University's Olson Library has been a federal depository library since 1963.  Documents in the collection cover a variety of subjects and are meant to compliment not only the curriculum and research at Northern Michigan University, but the needs of the general public in the 1st Congressional District as well. The Olson Library also receives documents from the State of Michigan via their depository program.The documents, both electronic and hard-copy, are available to the general public and NMU faculty, staff, and students.

Holocaust Collection

The Holocaust Collection of the Lydia M. Olson Library consists of books, journals, audio-visual materials, and documents relating to the Holocaust. The aim of the Collection is to provide Northern Michigan University students and the public of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan with a record of information about the Holocaust and to promote both awareness and an understanding of the event and its significance for all humanity, now and for the future.

NMU Commons

Northern's institutional repository designed to bring together the scholarly and creative output of students and faculty of the University. The repository contains NMU Master's theses, Doctor of Nursing Practice scholarly projects, the undergraduate journal Conspectus Borealis, Northern's Upper Country: A Journal of the Lake Superior Region as well as numerous faculty publications and presentations.
