The second floor of the Lydia M. Olson Library serves as the primary service and collaboration level. This floor brings together public services, technology, NMU Archives, and the Beaumier UP Heritage Center.

Sound Levels
- Collaborative spaces: The open floor areas, Learning Commons, and Tech Den are considered collaborative spaces where conversation and group work are expected.
- Considerate spaces: Areas near the PreK–12 Collection are considered considerate spaces where noise should be kept at a lower level.
- Quiet study spaces: The Archives Reading Room is designated as a quiet study area.
