Borrowing and Renewals

To renew materials borrowed from the library, including those from MeLCat or Interlibrary Loan, please refer to the FAQs section, which addresses most questions related to borrowing and renewing materials.

Librarian Reference

Consulting with a faculty librarian can assist you in refining your research topics, locating and assessing information, citing sources, and addressing various research-related needs.

Materials from other Libraries

MelCat and Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services enable you to acquire materials not currently available at Olson Library. These materials may include books, dissertations, media, microfilms, and photocopies of periodical articles borrowed from other libraries.

Printing

The library provides two black & white networked printers and one color photocopy networked printer available for use by NMU students, faculty, and staff. Payment is exclusively through CatCa$h loaded on your NMU ID (WildCat Express Card). Guests have the option to purchase a preloaded print card for printing services.

Study Rooms

At the library's temporary location in Gries Hall, there are study rooms available for both quiet individual study and group study purposes. These study rooms are situated on the first floor, adjacent to the ASNMU Food Pantry.

Technology in the Library

The library offers a range of technology including scanners, computers, fax machines, and printers for use within the library premises.

Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality workstations with the Meta Quest 2 headset are available for reservation or for specific course-related activities.


Course Reserves (Instructors)

Faculty members can place hard-copy materials on reserve at the Public Services Desk or provide electronic materials accessible through EduCat.

Embedded Librarian (EduCat)

Faculty can access details and procedures to integrate a librarian within their EduCat courses. Librarians offer customized resources tailored to specific courses/assignments and are available to address student inquiries.

Library Instruction

Faculty members can utilize this form to request a class session conducted by a library faculty member, customized to suit the specific needs of the class.

Library Tour

Instructors, current and prospective students, as well as community members, are welcome to request a 30-minute walking tour of the library.


For Alumni

The library offers alumni access to select resources, along with guidance on using your alumni email account to log in to these resources.
