Archive.org Hack Exposes Data of 31 Million Users

Archive.org was recently hacked, resulting in a data breach affecting 31 million users.

The hackers did not steal plain text passwords but instead accessed user information and hashed (think scrambled and encoded) passwords. It is recommended that anyone who has used the same password on archive.org, on other services, to change it as a precaution.

Millions of people and organizations use archive.org, including the Lydia Olson Library, which has utilized the Wayback Machine to archive older versions of its library website.

To check if your information has been compromised, the website Have I Been Pwned allows users to enter their email addresses and search known data breaches.
